An electric reimagining of a classic comedy of love, rebellion, and redemption, VERY VERY turns Shakespeare’s As You Like It into a full-out rock concert. Originally conceived by director Jason King Jones, VERY VERY features over 20 new songs written by Zac Lasher and Jay Leibowitz and tells the story of Rosalind and Orlando, two young lovers who flee the tyranny of home only to reunite in a sexually charged and confusingly passionate exile.
The trio independently produced the show's first workshop with the support of the Gibson Guitar Company at the Gibson Baldwin Hit Factory Showroom in NYC and performed two packed live concert readings on March 4th, 2013.
Zac and Jay returned with the band just over a month later on April 20, 2013 to perform a private show in the legendary Hit Factory Studio 6 with friends The Lobbyists, and Supermajor.
Later in 2013, the company reunited when the American Theater Group invited the team to takeover the Hamilton Stage at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway NJ for an abridged, sold-out, one-night-only concert reading of VERY VERY.
In October 2014, Jason, Zac, and Jay gathered a talented company of actors together for an informal and fun open table reading of a revised version of the script at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory on 14th Street in New York City.
In March of 2015, Duke's Band was joined onstage by a lineup of incredible talent including Rebecca Naomi Jones and Alysha Umphress to rock the doors off 54 Below - Broadway's Supper Club.
The Olney Theatre Center in Maryland hosted an exciting and productive script development workshop with dramaturgical support by Jeremy Stoller in March 2016. Local actors met for a week to assist in the creation of a new vision for VERY VERY, culminating in a private, in-house performance for friends and staff.
On November 20, 2016 Duke's Band took the stage at Pianos NYC where they welcomed Winter with a great set of tunes from VERY VERY.
